From Nevada Representative April 20, 1904

Edmund (sic) G. Pierce, one of the old time residents of this county died the home of his daughter, Mrs. N. P. Jones, in Des Moines, April 17, 1904, aged 75 years. Mr. Pierce was born in Ireland in 1829 and came to this country in 1849, more than a half century ago. He was married at Lima, N. Y., in 1853, to Miss Alice Monaghan, who with one son and four daughters survives him. He came to Story county twenty five or more years ago and until the last year or so was a continuous resident. Mr. Pierce ws thrifty, genial and kindly man and ws held in high regard by his neighbors and fellow citizens generally. His funeral services were held yesterday and the burial was in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Des Moines.

Edward Pierce, the only son, resides near Shipley, three daughters, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Nugent and Mrs. Pearson live in Des Moines, and one, Mrs. Murphey, in Pipestone, Minnesota.
