Robert Clifford Miller was born September 1, 1929 to Clifford and Estel (Ulrich) Miller in Clinton, Iowa. Bob graduated from Saint Mary’s School in Clinton and served in the United States Navy from 1948 through 1951. Bob and Norma (Hidlebaugh) were married June 13, 1953. He was a graphic arts manager for the Iowa DOT. Bob was dedicated to his family and cherished his many friendships - he ran into someone he knew everywhere he went. He loved to golf and spent many summers driving the family boat. Bob was a long-time member of the Ames Elks Lodge where he was a past Exalted Ruler. Bob married Elizabeth Rath on September 3, 2005.
Bob passed away at 85 years of age on August 5, 2015 at Bickford of Cedar Falls after a continued battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Miller of Cedar Falls; his children, Kevin (Linda) Miller of Marshalltown, Brian (Tammy) Miller of Ames, Lynette (Kevin) Lenz of Rochester, MN, Jim (Stephanie) Miller of Mason City and Lea Ann (Jeff) Hodson of Shawnee, KS; his step-children, Nick (Kristine) Kramer, Julie (Doug) Kramer and Barry (Joleyne) Kramer; thirteen grandchildren, Heather (Travis) Starr, Wade Rouse, Andrew Lane, Brad (Kim) Miller, Josh Miller, Greg (Shari) Miller, Brandon Lenz, Chelsea Lenz, Jake Miller, Ross Miller, Mitchell Hodson, Eli Hodson and Nadya Hodson; seven great-grandchildren; his nephew, Mike Bock; and his nieces, Deb Smith and Cindy Heck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Norma; and his sister, LaVonne.
