OBITUARY

HUXLEY -- Funeral for Lars Erickson was Saturday at Palestine Lutheran Church after a prayer service at Riis Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Stoutland officiated.

Mrs. Ed Hall and Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang, accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Lee. Rosalyn Tesdall was organist.

Pallbearers were nephews Ben Hokel, Leonard Hokel, Arthur Larson, Homes Larson, Telford Lodden and Kermit Larson.

Mr. Erickson was born in Skjolde, Stavanger, Norway, Sept. 30, 1871. He died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Visol Alleman Nov. 7 at 85.

He came to the U.S. in 1891 at 20. He worked for a railroad for a while but later farmed for many years.

He was married to Lena Larson in 1896. At this time he became a member of the Palestine Church.

The couple had five children. A son, Melvin, died at the age of 4. After the death of his wife in 1937, Mr. Erickson quit farming and made his home with his children. He visited Norway in 1939 to see his mother and family after 47 years of absence.

Survivors are sons Elmer, Minneapolis, and Thomas, Huxley; Mrs. Cora Miller, Kelley, and Mrs. Luella Alleman, Slater; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters in Norway.
