John Richard Moses, age 84, of Northfield, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, Minnesota. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, July 18th at the Chapel of the Three Links Care Center. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Services at the Chapel. John Richard Moses, the son of Ralph John Moses and Anna Eliza Stevens, was born at home on February 21, 1931, in Story County Iowa. He graduated from high school in Collins and shortly after enlisted in the Air Force. John was stationed in Duluth as a fighter plane mechanic. On April 8, 1954, John was united in marriage with Beverly Jeanne Sowl in Duluth, Minnesota. The young couple made their home in Duluth for a time before moving to Seattle, Washington. Upon returning to Duluth, they had their only child, Steven John Moses.

Eventually the family made its way to the Twin Cities area. John was always interested in aircraft of all kinds. He had both an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics license as well as his pilot’s license. While in the Twin Cities, he joined the Air National Guard. After his retirement, John remained very involved in circles that shared his interest in aircraft. For a number of years, he was a volunteer with the Air National Guard Museum, helping to restore vintage aircraft.

John was a supportive spouse, father, and grandfather. He was extremely proud of both his grandsons. He loved to take road trips of any duration to any location, take pictures, and visit parks. More recently he and his buddy Ken would take their scooters for adventures in Northfield. All his life John loved music. He played both the trumpet and clarinet. He was also a spiritual man, who loved to read his Bible and attend Bible study classes.

John is survived by his son, Steve Moses and daughter-in-law Anne Jarvis of Northfield; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jonathan Moses; brothers Darrel Moses and wife Joy, and Bob Moses, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
