AMES – James “Jim” M. Aldrich, 68, of the Iowa Veterans Home, formerly of Ames, Iowa, died Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Marshalltown Hospital.

Jim was born December 2, 1946 at White Oak, Iowa, the son of Charles and June (Talbert) Aldrich. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Jim was a custodian at Iowa State University and retired in 2008.

Jim is survived by his wife, M. Christine Aldrich of Ames, Iowa; four children he helped raise: Charlene Conrad of Monett, Missouri, Donnie Still of Monett, Missouri, Tina Shaw of Monett, Missouri, John Jarnigan of Joplin, Missouri; one brother: Steve (Marilyn) Aldrich of Newton, Iowa; four sisters: Susan Cerretti of Colo, Iowa, Robin Blue of Marshall-town, Iowa, Bonny (Wayne) Dulaney of Nevada, Iowa, Karen (Raymond) Harrelson of Cambridge, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Charles, Chris, Bob, Tom, Kevin (Tobor); and one sister: Elaine Charlet.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be at the Peoria Cemetery near Maxwell.

In lieu of flowers: memorials may be made to the James Aldrich Memorial Fund.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling the arrangements.
