Marian Ruth Bruce, 93, of Huxley, passed away June 27, 2015 at the Madrid Home in Madrid. A memorial service is being planned for later in July at Ballard Creek in Huxley.

Ruth was born June 7, 1922 to George and Mae (Ballagh) Fisher in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. She married Stan Bruce in 1946, and was predeceased by him in 2010. She was also predeceased by her brother, Jim Fisher and son-in-law, Dr. Walt Larson.

Her life will be celebrated by her children, Glenn (Carolyn), Arlene Larson, and Bob (Nancy); her grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; her brother, Lloyd (Bill); and her brother-in-law, Andy (Carrol).

Ruth and Stan and family relocated to Ames, Iowa, but always maintained close ties to their Canadian families and friends. Ruth lived two years at Ballard Creek in Huxley and then the last two months of her life at the Madrid Home.

In their retirement years, Ruth and Stan enjoyed their Hi-lo outings with friends, winters in Harlingen, TX, as well as many trips with sister-in-law, Ellen. A talented person, Ruth was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. Throughout her well-lived life, family was the most important and greatest concern for Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ames Animal Shelter or Food at First.
