Kristin Marie (Scoles) Uribe
September 23, 1968 - May 8, 2015

Kristin Marie Uribe, 46, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015, at Pearland Medical Center in Pearland, TX. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on May 20, 2015 in the cafeteria of Challenger Elementary School in Pearland, TX. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Ames Municipal Cemetery, (310 E. 9th Street, Ames, IA).

Kristin was born September 23, 1968 in Waterloo, IA to Donald "Gordy" Scoles and Mary "Joann" (Strubel) Scoles. She graduated in 1986 from Cedar Falls High, in Cedar Falls, IA. Kristin went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 1990. She worked as an Elementary school teacher at Challenger Elementary in Pearland, TX, until her health would no longer allow her to work.

Kristin's life was devoted to her four children and to teaching. Without fail, she always reached out to help those around her in need, putting others before herself. Incredibly sentimental, Kristin treasured her extended family and its heritage, fostering her life-long interest in genealogy and family history. A good cook, Kristin collected and recreated many cherished family recipes, and was fond of going out and discovering good food. Kristin enjoyed looking for rainbows and staring at the stars with her fiancé. She loved the Little House book and television series from her childhood. Music, both rock and country, were a big part of her life and she often attended concerts with friends. Kristin was beautiful, witty, sassy, and above all, adored by everyone in her life.

Kristin is survived by her 4 children: Juan, Michael, Gabriel and Anna Uribe, all of Pearland, TX; Her fiancé, Wendell "Joe" Ketcher of Houston, TX; Her father, Donald "Gordy" Scoles of Waterloo, IA; Two sisters, Therese Scoles of Bennettsville, SC, and Molly (Jason) Cooper of Norwalk, IA; Plus dozens of wonderful extended family members.

Kristin was preceded in death in 1978 by her beloved mother, Joann (Strubel) Scoles, and her "second mom", Patricia "Pat" (Heidt) Scoles in 2014. Pat married Kristin's father, Gordy, and became a devoted mother to the girls in every way possible.
