Jill Rochelle Ver Helst was born March 30, 1968 to Wynn and Bette (Hiserote) Houge in Ames, Iowa. Jill graduated from Ballard High School in 1986. Jill was a graduate of Bernel’s Cosmetology School in Ames. Jill and John V. Burt were united in marriage September 8, 1990. From this marriage came three beautiful girls. Jill and Kurt Ver Helst were married June 12, 1998 at Cornerstone Church. Jill was an animal lover, especially puppies and dogs. She enjoyed being outside, helping on the farm, listening to music, and was a NASCAR and Green Bay Packers fan. Jill was a homemaker and her greatest joy was her beloved family.

Jill passed away April 24, 2015 at 47 years of age.

Jill is survived by her husband, Kurt Ver Helst, of Ames; her children, Hannah Burt, Alyxandra Burt, Audra Burt, and Mari Beth Ver Helst; step-children, John Adam Burt, Bryce Ver Helst and Janae Ver Helst; her father, Wynn (Rita) Houge, of Kelley; sisters, Trace (Chris) Houge Brakke, of Ames and Angela (Tim) Houge Moore, of Roland; step-sisters, Aasha Edwards, of Bath, Maine and Shana Thomas, of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandmothers, Elizabeth (Lange) Hiserote and Hazel (Estrem) Houge, both of Ames, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bette; her grandfathers, E. Jean Houge and Darrell "Deek" Hiserote; and her aunts, Nancie Jo (Hiserote) Fellows and Nancy Houge Hadaway.

Memorials may be designated to the family, which will be forwarded to the Ames Animal Shelter.
