Willard Cleverley, 57, Dies Here

Willard Cleverley, 57, 419-8th St., died Thursday at 8:15 p.m. at his home from a heart ailment. He had been ill about 3 1/2 years.

He was born July 22, 1899, at Maxwell. He farmed in that area before coming to Ames in 1938. Here he worked at Mary Greeley Hospital, at Union Story Trust & Savings Bank and operated a floor service for many years before retiring because of ill health.

He was a member of First Methodist Church and the Chamber of Commerce.

He was married to Mary Hill Oct. 11, 1924, at Boone. She survives along with sons, James, St. Joseph, Mo., and Harold, Great Bend, Kan.; brother Wayne, Humboldt; four sisters--Mrs. Ruth Adams, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Flossie Pearce, Maxwell; and Mrs. Alice Wingert and Mrs. Mary Grabenbuer, both of Marshalltown; his father, J. H. Cleverley, Tucson; three grandchildren--Carol Louise and Garold, Great Bend, and James Willard, St. Joseph.

Funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Adams Chapel with the Rev. Robert Pinnell of First Methodist Church and Rev. Alfred Barker of Dallas Center, former First Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Municipal Cemetery.
