Col. Herbert Erwin Hadley (1876-1960)

Funeral services were held Oct. 20 at the Methodist church in Nevada for Col. H. E. Hadley who died at the Story County Hospital Oct. 23 after an illness of several months.

The Rev. James Dendler, the Rev. E. P. Windman and Dr. R. M. Shipman of Ames were in charge of the service.

Active casket bearers included Fred Lehnhardt, Sam McHose, John Miller, Donald Nelson, Robert Pasley and Robert Walters. Honorary bearers were: M. E. Frazier, John Hattery, Edward Kelley, P. K. Mathison, Ray McHose, Glen, Newton, Paul Cunningham, H. W. Dana, L. E. Davisson, B. D. Fickess, Carl Stone and H. M. Vinsel.

Masonic services were held at graveside with W. E. Horine in charge.

Mr. Hadley was born in Webster County, on April 5, 1876 the son of Peter and Myrah Hadley.

He is survived by his wife and adopted son, Milo Hadley of Nevada, a brother Lawrence Hadley of Ruthven and a sister, Mrs. Ida Cromwell, of Anaconda, Mont.

He was a senior member of the law firm of Hadley and Countryman.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
