FRANK SHEFFIELD

Funeral services for Frank Sheffield were held from the Larson Funeral Home in Story City, Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. C. L. Fuller of the Grace E.U.B. Church officiating.

Services were also held at William Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was in the Sheffield cemetery southeast of Story City. Pallbearers included Vernon D. Matson, Eugene L. Matson, Elwyn L. Myhre, Duane L. Smith, Robert Larson and Eldon Skattebo.

Born the son of Peter and Mornelvia Squire Sheffield April 20, 1872, in Howard Township, he was a lifetime resident of this area. He died at the Collins Memorial Hospital in Knoxville, March 13 at the age of 99.

He was united in marriage to Luella Jane Wier on April 4, 1895. The family moved to Palo Alto County in 1903 and returned to Story City about 35 years ago where he served on the police force.

His pioneer ancestors arrived in Story County in 1854 and his grandfather, Nathan N. Sheffield, built the first home in Story City. His father served in the Civil War with Company H of the Eighth Iowa Infantry,

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Milo Hausner, Knoxville, Mrs. Walter J. Matson, Ames; Mrs. Irvin P. Myhre, Nevada; a brother and one sister, Clinton Sheffield and Mrs. George Wiggins, both of Story City, four grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
