Helen Ann Facto, 84, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Riverside Enrichment Communities: North, in Ames, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Christ Community Church (5501 George Washington Carver Ave., Ames, Iowa 50010).

Born April 28,1930 in Ames, Iowa, Helen Ann Knudson was the daughter of Charles and Jessica Knudson. She grew up in Ames and graduated from Ames High School in 1948, before attending William Woods University in Fulton, MO. from 1948-1949. She returned to Ames and attended Iowa State University from 1950-1952 at that time she became of member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Then she took a break from school to marry and start a family. She continued her education in Ames at the Mary Greeley School of Practical Nursing in 1966 and followed that up with her Bachelors in Home Economics from Iowa State University in 1968.

Helen was united in marriage to Louis Facto, and the couple was blessed with two children, Nici, and Jeff. Helen will be remembered by those who knew her as a gentle, yet stubbornly sweet woman that never complained about her illness, and handled her ailments with the up most dignity. Her passion for Iowa State Sports was second to none; the last few years of her life were dedicated to her beliefs, and a great game of bridge and gin rummy.

Survivors include her son; Jeff Facto of Ames, daughter; Nici Wright of McKinleyville, CA, nieces; Joy Marple of Tucson, Arizona, Becky (Mike) Dastole of Tucson Arizona, and Debbie (Ted) Rozeboom of Wayzata, Minnesota, nephews; Sumner (Patti) Knudson of Castel Rock, Co. , John (Elizabeth) Marple of Elijay, GA., and Rob (Debbie) Marple of Hiram, GA.
