Ralph E. Weuve, 94 of McCallsburg passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing. Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2014 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 25 at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg with Pastor Kathy Sandmann. Burial will follow in the Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.
Ralph Edward Weuve passed away early Wednesday morning, November 19th, 2014 at the Zearing Health Care Center where he has resided for the past two years. Ralph was born in rural Colo, Iowa to Fred and Bertha Weuve on June 15, 1920 at the family farm. He received his education at a rural school near his home. After completion of his schooling he began farming in Story County and eventually moved his farming operation to a farm near the town of Mc Callsburg, Iowa. All of Ralph’s life he had a passion for the art of farming and a love of the land.
On July 18, 1943, Ralph married Helen Fern Prehm of Danville, Iowa. They moved onto the Mc Callsburg farm in 1948 where he worked and lived until moving into the care center. Ralph retired from farming in 1985 but his heart and soul still remained with the land.
Ralph is survived by his two sons, Wayne W. (and Cathy) Weuve of Mc Callsburg, IA and Wesley L. (and De Ann) Weuve of Bondurant, IA. Five grandchildren, Brian (and Dawn) Weuve of Spencer, IA, Eric Weuve of Carson, IA, Keith (and Randa) Weuve of Parkville MO, Teresa (and David) Nissen of Derby, KS, Kristin ( and Joseph) Aulwes of Bondurant, IA. and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers Fred Weuve of Nevada, IA and Arnold (Mike) (and Elinor) Weuve of Tucson, AZ., one sister Edith Stuckmyer of Marshalltown, IA, two sister-in-law Esther Weuve of Eldridge, IA (formerly State Center), Betty Weuve of Austin, TX and multiple nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen, his parents, six brothers Harold Weuve, Melvin (Hap) Weuve, Leland Weuve, Elmer (Pete) Weuve, Gerald Weuve, Orville Weuve and one sister Selma (Mettlin) Bear.
Ralph will be missed by all that knew and loved him for his laughter and smile. He will be remembered for his honesty and his acts of kindness and compassion.
