Obituary for Warren "Harry" Cook
Warren “Harry” Cook, 96, of Nevada, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Windsor Manor in Nevada.
Harry was born July 27, 1918 to Lee W. and Mildred L. (Stone) Cook on the farm in Richland Township, near Nevada, Iowa. He graduated from Fernald High School and attended Iowa State University. During World War II, Harry attended radio school while serving in the Army. He was united in marriage to Naomi E. McKinney on December 17, 1950. Naomi preceded Harry in death on February 6, 1997. Harry later united in marriage to Lorraine A. (Burr) King on May 2, 1998 in Nevada, Iowa. Harry was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Nevada, the American Legion William F. Ball Post #48 of Nevada, the Farm Bureau, Corn Growers Association and the Soybean Growers Association. Harry had also served as President of the Fernald Consolidated School Board.
Harry is survived by his wife: Lorraine of Nevada; a son: Randall (Danita) Cook of Polk City, Iowa; a daughter: Shelley (William) Sobey of Seven Hills, Ohio; a step-son: Steven King of Norman, Oklahoma four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Naomi.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Central Presbyterian Church.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church.
The Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
