Obituary for Jimmie Don Wilson

Jimmie Don Wilson, 75, of Collins, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Jimmie was born November 8, 1938, to Don Murrell and Francis Mae (Huffaker) Wilson. He graduated from Collins High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Oler on August 10, 1956, in Baxter, Iowa. Jimmie farmed in Collins from 1959 until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed fishing, horses, hunting and antique John Deere Tractors. Jimmie loved visiting while having coffee with fellow farmers.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn of Collins; his children, Mark (Debby) Wilson of Preston, Missouri, Lori Farrier of Ottumwa, and Wade Wilson of Des Moines; his sister, Shirley Saveraid of Collins; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Mike Farrier.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 9 at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 10 also at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Collins Fire Department in loving memory of Jimmie.
