EleNore May Tallman
September 7, 1924 - November 2, 2014

EleNore May Tallman was born to the late Ora and Guy Summy, September 7, 1924, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ele graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and received a degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University in 1948. She married the late R.W. (Dick) Tallman in 1946.

Ele was a home economics teacher at Shenandoah High School from 1949 to 1950, a teacher and guidance counselor at Harlan High School from 1963 to 1974 and then a teacher of students with learning disabilities at Ames High School from 1975, until her retirement in 1996.

After retiring from high school teaching, Ele tutored high school students to help them prepare for college ACT tests. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren throughout the United States. While at home, she found special joy in tending to indoor and outdoor plants and flowers. Her summer days always included time bathing in the sun next to a swimming pool whenever possible. Ele was an avid Iowa State University football fan and tailgater.

Ele lived in Ames from 1975 until 2007. She spent her final years and passed peacefully at Bickford Cottage in Urbandale.
