Chauncey Ray Alcott
April 13, 1923 - October 31, 2014Chauncey Ray Alcott, 91, passed away on Friday, October 31st at The Cedars in Madrid, Iowa.
Chauncey was born April 13, 1923 in Ashland, WI to Alfred I. and Coral A. Couch Alcott. His family moved to Ames, IA in 1930. He graduated from Ames High School in 1941. Prior to his military service in WWII he worked at numerous service stations in Ames. Following his return from the service he married Dorothy Clem on April 10, 1949. He and Dorothy moved to Ottumwa, IA where he worked for Prudential Insurance and started their family. In 1966 he returned to Ames and worked for Mathison Ford until his retirement in 1985.
His wife Dorothy passed away in December 1991. He married Verna Gibson in April 1994 in Madrid, IA where he spent his remaining years.
He was predeceased by daughter Mary Jane Alcott, and step-son Bob Munson. He is survived by his wife Verna, sons Craig (Barb) Alcott and Wayne (Sheri) Alcott, grandchildren Jennifer (Herb) Garrison, Joel (Melissa) Alcott, Aaron (Lena) Alcott, Chris (Jennifer) Alcott, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by step-children Barb (Steve) Burich, Butch (Ruby) Munson, Bill (Janet) Munson and Bart (Jeana) Munson, and several step-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Ames Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to American Legion, Post 37 Ames IA.
