MELVIN MAGOON

Melvin Magoon, age 83, died Saturday, July 21 at Story County Hospital. Services will be Tuesday, July 24 at 1:30 p.m. from Stevens Memorial chapel in Ames with Rev. Henry Hackman of the First United Methodist in Ames, officiating. Interment will be at Slater Cemetery near Slater.

Mr. Magoon was born April 18, 1890 at Green County. He married Hazel Hines on Dec. 28, 1912 at Minburn. He farmed near Farlin and Jefferson and also was employed by Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Ames in 1946 and worked for the highway commission and upon his retirement he ho moved to Slater until his admittance to Oak Park Manor four years ago.

Survivors include two sons, Virgil of 311 11th Street in Ames, and Eldon of Aurora, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Willard Holm of Newton; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Marvin of Ft. Dodge and a sister, Mrs. Flora Smith of Milbank, S. D.
