LaVonne Genevieve (Egemo) Jones
February 13, 1926 - August 22, 2014

LaVonne Jones, 88, of Ames, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Green Hills Care Center.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday August 29, at 12:00 pm at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, IA 50010, Phone 515-232-5473). The memorial service follows at 1:00 pm. All are invited to a fellowship luncheon in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, directly after the service. Private inurnment is at Ames Memorial Cemetery.

LaVonne Genevieve Jones was born February 13, 1926 to Herman and Edith (Livingston) Egemo in Goldfield, IA. She graduated from Corwith High School in 1944. Upon graduation, LaVonne moved to Ames where she worked for Bell Telephone as a switch board operator and supervisor. On August 28, 1948, LaVonne was united in marriage to Clyde Jones at Bethany Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Ames, moving later to Waterloo and Cedar Falls, where they raised two daughters; Carol (Philip) Watson of Cedar Falls, and Kimberly Jones of Monkton, Vermont.

LaVonne is survived by her two daughters, grandsons Thomas Watson (Jen), Simon Watson, and Callahan Churchill, granddaughter, Rachel Jones, three great-grandchildren, and sisters Shuraleen Egemo and Wilma Runyan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years; a brother, Erving Egemo and a sister, Connie Jean Heaton.
