Deloris W. Pagliai
August 26, 1924 - August 28, 2014

Deloris Winona Pagliai, 90, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2014 under Hospice Care. Dee was born on the family farm near Luther, Iowa to Harold and Melvina Knox. She was one of twelve children. After graduating high school, she married Sam Pagliai. They had two children, Dianne and John.

Sam and Dee worked together, creating the best pizza in Ames in 1954. They started "Pagliai's Pizza" in various locations.

Deloris was a wonderful homemaker and a great cook. She enjoyed embroidering, making baby blankets, painting, reading, walking and working in the yard. She enjoyed her ever growing family.

She converted to Catholicism when she married Sam and her faith was important to her her entire life. In 1987 they lost their son Johnny in a car accident at the age of 35.

Deloris is survived by her husband, Sam; daughter, Dianne; three grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Pagliai, Kisha Brakel (Eric), Jamia (Jon) Albright, and five great-grandchildren, Kira Hagaman. Dylan & Bodhi Albright, and Giovanni & Gianni Pagliai; sisters, Eleanor Jipp, Margaret (Tom) Uitermarkt, Marilyn (Lloyd) Donnelly, Jeanette (Gerald) Bentley, and Carolyn (Roger) Pardun; brothers, Don (Charlotte) Knox and John (Barb) Knox, and many, many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Proceeded in death by her parents, Harold and Melvina Knox; her son, John Pagliai; sisters, Gloria Yearian, Grace (John) Miller, Helen Laurel (Ken) Wisecup; and brother, Raymond (Murleen) Knox.

Monday, Sept. 1, 5:00- 7:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. Rosary and visitation will take place at St. Malachy's Church, 405 Gerald Street, Madrid Iowa.

Tuesday Funeral Mass at St. Malachy's at 10:30 AM Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Madrid. Luncheon to follow at the hall at Saint Malachy's.
