Betsy Louise Cassady Nims was born August 2, 1922 to Raymond W. and Flora (Whiting) Cassady in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Mapleton High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Applied Art degree from Iowa State College. On July 1, 1945, she married Robert M. Nims in Des Moines. They lived in many areas of the country during her husband's Army career. Betsy enjoyed playing bridge, living at Northcrest Community and spending time at her beloved lake home in Spicer, Minnesota. Betsy was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and P.E.O. Chapter AA of Ames.

Betsy died September 15, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Betsy is survived by her three sons, Robert C. (Kathleen) Nims, of Midland, Texas, Dr. Curtis E. (Joan) Nims, of Estherville and Dr. Raymond W. Nims, of Lyons, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her brother, Raymond W. Cassady, Jr.; her sister, Nancy Cassady; and a granddaughter, Nancy Nims.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. John's by the Campus Episcopal Church or Northcrest Community.
