Margaret Fosseen, age 98, of Radcliffe, IA, died on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Hubbard Care Center.

Margaret Fern (Larson) Fosseen was born on October 31, 1915, in Nevada, Iowa. She was the first born child of Fred and Emma (Hausken) Larson.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Memorial Lutheran church in Nevada, Iowa. After graduating in 1923 from Milford Township School, Margaret worked at the plant in Ankeny that made bullets and packed them for WWII. Later, she was a waitress at an ISU Campustown Café and later worked at Donnelly’s in Nevada.

Margaret married Lloyd Fosseen on December 19, 1944, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They started married life together in the house that Lloyd helped his father build northwest of Radcliffe.

She loved planting flowers, bushes and fruit trees. Red roses were her favorite flower and she bordered the sidewalk with forty red rose bushes. Margaret enjoyed spring time, when she could get outside and start planting her yearly garden. Margaret worked alongside Lloyd with every farm task: milking cows, raising chickens, hauling corn to town and baling hay. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making pies.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, Ladies Aide, Married Ladies Harmony Club and the Garden Club.

Margaret will be missed by her three children: Rita (Bob) Schmidt, Dwayne (Betty) Fosseen and Marcy (Denny) Chaussee; seven grandchildren and their families Debra Bonilla, Scott Fosseen, Tammy Peterson, Molly Camacho, Mary Brown, Mark Chaussee and Jeff Chaussee; along with her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, Mary Kay, Ann, Charles, Steven, Marshall, LeAnna, Bernella, Barbara, Carl, Bill, Michael, and Connie.
