Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.
Emma Rose Martinson, 85, passed away peacefully Monday, August 4, 2014 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Emma was born August 25, 1928 to Martin and Ethel (Lyman) Jacobs in Story City, Iowa. She graduated from Story City High School in 1947. She worked at Donnelly's in Nevada until her marriage to Martin Martinson on December 9, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Martin and Emma lived in the Ames and Huxley area most of their 57 years of marriage. Emma was a homemaker and spent much of her free time cross stitching and quilting. She was a member of the Sheffield Cemetery Society and attended Pleasant Grove Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Rose Anne (Ron) Zagar, of Ames; two sons, Richard Martinson, of Johnston and Jeffrey Martinson, of Houston, TX; two granddaughters, Danielle Martinson, of New York City, NY and Jessica Martinson, of Urbandale; and one sister, Wanda Rahto, of Luther.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; one son, Dennis; her parents, Martin and Ethel; three sisters, Dorothy Woodard, Thelma Johnson and Norma Keltner; and three brothers, Henry, Frank, and Martin Jr.
Emma asked that memorials be made to the Pleasant Grove Church.
