Rites Thursday for Mrs. Groomes

Mrs. Josephine Groomes, 82, 104 14th St., died about 11 a.m. today at Mary Greeley Hospital.

Born in Illinois she married Elijah Groomes in Indiana in 1896.* She came to Story County in 1915.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Marion of Beaulieu, Minn., Floyd of Ames and Willis of Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Olive Baker of Boone; four brothers, Lyman Clouser of Gilbert, Ira Clouser of Florida and Henry and George Clouser, both of Ames; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Brunett of Murray and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry C. Lumpkin of Gilbert Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: This is not true. Illinois marriage records show "Ervin E. Grooms, Jr." married "Josie B. Clouser" on 10 January 1897 in Piatt County, Illinois.
