MAXWELL
Chas. H. Allen died at his home in this place on Wednesday morning, July 8th. he had been in ill health for some time, but still was able to be around, and even died in his chair. His trouble was dropsy with complications of the heart. Mr. Allen was born in Essex Co., N.Y. Feb. 16, 1828. He was married to Hannah A. Neal, of Essex Co. Sept. 20, 1852. She is a sister to Walter Neal, of Nevada. They came to Iowa in 1854 and settled in Buchanan Co., In 1882 they came to Story county stopping awhile in Nevada. Eventually they made their home in Maxwell. There is but one living child, Lyman E. Allen, formerly of Nevada, now of Oskaloosa. The funeral took place on Thursday at 2 p.m. in C. P. church and was conducted by Rev. Ferguson assisted by Revs. Henderson, of Nevada, and Bentley and Doty, of this place. The interment took place in Peoria cemetery. Mr. A. was a good man and very highly respected by all who knew him. Mrs. A. has the sympathy of his entire community in her bereavement.
