Wylie Webb Fay was born Nov. 1, 1884 at State Center, Iowa. His parents, Arthur Holmes Fay and Lillian Slater Fay, moved to Nevada when Wylie was 5 years old and he had been a resident of Nevada since then.
He graduated from Nevada High School in 1901 and the State University of Iowa Law School in 1907. He was admitted to the bar but took up farming because poor eyesight restricted his reading.
On April 22, 1914 he ws married to Marguerite Nicholson in Vincennes, Inc. To this union were born two children: Robert W. of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Jane, Mrs. Roy E. Miller, Jr., of Iron Mountain, Mich.
Wylie was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church and for many years was a loyal choir member. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and over the years kept in close contact with his many university friends. He was also a charter member of the Men's Bridge Club in Nevada.
In 1922 he contacted polio. Despite his handicaps Wylie attended every homecoming game at Iowa City until resent years. Friends and alumni helped him into the stadium when illness prevented his walking.
On Dec. 8, 1960 after a long illness Wylie died at his home near Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to mourn are his wife, his two children, a sister, Mrs. H. H. Stipp Sr., of Des Moines, Iowa, six grandchildren and a host of friends.
Having many characteristics that make a father loved, one outstanding quality which he taught by precept and example was that of faithfulness and loyalty to family and friends.
