Glenn Newton died Monday

Glenn R. Newton*, 71, Nevada, died about 4:45 p.m. Monday t the Story County Hospital, where he had been a patient about two weeks.

He was born at Anita, the son of Edward L. and Roma Huck* Newton.

Mr. Newton had been a Nevada resident for 51 years and was a retired retail lumberman.

He married Mona H. Wertz* at Oakland April 17, 1918.

Mr. Newton was past president of the Iowa Lumber Dealers Assn.; of the Northwestern Lumber Dealers Assn.; of the Nevada Community Club; a charter member of the Nevada Rotary Club; past commander of the American Legion in Nevada; a member of the 40 & 8 of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star; director of the State Bank & Trust Co., and served as director of the Iowa Heart Assn., for several years.

He was a World War I veteran.

Mr. Newton is survived by a son, Paul, Twin Falls, Ida.; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Brinkman, Nevada; five grandchildren; two brothers, Judge Herbert Newton, Stewart, and Emmett H. Newton, Fairsfield, Calif. and a sister, Mrs. Charles Salmon, Youngstown, O.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday form the Evangelical United Brethren Methodist Church, with the Rev. M. C. Schupe officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Ryan Funeral Home has been in charge of arrangements.
