WILLIAM F. BALL

William F. Ball, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1987, at Story County Hospital, Nevada IA.

He was born Sept. 3, 1904, at Collins IA to Ralph E. Ball and Hallie Byerly Ball.

He was married to Mary Boston in 1930. She died in 1945.

He was married to Lyda Beckley April 26, 1965.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada. His hobby had been cooking. He was a carpenter.

Mr. Ball served in World War II in the Army Air Corps. He retired as first lieutenant. He served as an intelligence officer in India and China. He later served in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a major.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 40 and 8, was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Retired Officers Assn., and was a member of the Boy Scout Alumni.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a son, Russell Ball of Sterling AK; a daughter, Ella May Risk of Independence IA; three sisters, Bertha Ball of Nevada, Callista Adams of North Bend OR and Gertrude Bastian of Victor IA, and a brother, Stanley Ball of Fairfield Bay AR.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Boston Ball.

Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev. William Ballard officiating.
