Mearl Elden Hunt
Mearl Elden Hunt, 95, Nevada, IA, died Tuesday, June 6, 1989, in his home of cancer. He had been ill for one year.
Hunt was born May 3, 1894 in Polk City, IA, to Thomas Eugene and Minnie Mae (Tarr) Hunt. He came to Nevada in 1907. He attended the Nevada Schools and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He raised produce and brought it to town in a truck to sell for a living. he married Ruth Boynton in Webster City, IA. She preceded him in death in 1963.
Survivors include three sons, Elden of Pass Christian, MS; Keith of Red Oak, IA, Terry of Parkerburg, WV; three daughters, Barbara (Clay) of Cedar Falls, IA; Fran (Colyer) of Lake Mills, WI; JoAnn Hunt, Nevada, IA; one sister, George Coy of Ames, IA; 28 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Hollis; one daughter, Margo Houg; one brother, Chester, three sisters, Vivian, Vera and Vesta, and his wife.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 8, 1989 at 1 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary. Pastor Charles Dye officiated. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery. No visitation was planned.
Chet Ryan Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
