Fred Burkhart, 64, World War I veteran who had been in failing health for some time, died Thursday [May 22, 1952] at 4:40 p.m. at the Iowa Soldier's home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. P. Windman officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
Born Feb. 6, 1888 at Sterling, Ill., a son of John C. and Lena Burkhart, he had lived in Nevada the most of his life.
Surviving are his sisters, Mrs. Minnie Hines of Algona; Mrs. J. W. Handsaker and Mrs. Dan Bader of Nevada; and two brothers, Charlie Burkhart of Nevada and John Burkhart of Des Moines. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
