Funeral Services Held Here Wednesday For Mrs. Leland Bates
Funeral services for Mrs. Leland Bates, 67, who died at her farm home east of the city, Monday evening at 5 o'clock, after a long illness, were held Wednesday t 10:30 a. m. at the home, with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill in charge. Mrs. Beulah Freeland sang two favorite songs, with Mrs. Garnet Hathaway at the piano.
The large house was filled to capacity with relatives and friends at the deceased sho had gathered to pay a final tribute of love and respect to the deceased.
The bier was literally banked with flowers, a beautiful, yet silent tribute of the esteem in which the deceased was held by her wide circle of friends.
Casket bearers were Art Sarsfield, Harold Baker, Harvey Collins, Zene Stillman, E. B. Ayers and Claude Ruckman.
The following brief life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister, during the brief, yet impressive service:
"Mary, daughter of George and Adeline Raimer, was born in Nevada, Iowa on February 10th, 1876 where she grew to womanhood. On May 5th, 1903, she was married to Leland Bates at Nevada, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Nevada, Iowa, where she lived until her death at 5:00 p. m. on March 15th at the age of 67 years, one month and five days.
