Funeral services for the late John R. McCutcheon, who died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines Sunday morning, October 22, were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon after which interment was in the family lot overlooking the high bluff, in the west limits of the Nevada cemetery.

The services were largely attended, giving evidence of the very high esteem in which Mr. McCutcheon was held. The auditorium of the church was filled with relatives, friends and neighbors. Many were here from a distance to pay a final tribute of respect to the deceased.

At the home previous to the church service there was a scripture reading by Dr. C. N. Swihart and a prayer by his friend and neighbor, Rev. J. George Walz of Central Presbyterian church.

A the church scripture was read by Rev. Jackson Giddens of the Methodist church an obituary and euogy was read by Dr. Swihart and the sermon was preached by Rev. Walz. Music was furnished by a mixed quartette consisting of Messrs. McCo-- and Ingalls and Mrs. C. H. Hill and Mis Gold Sherman.

Mr. McCutcheon had been a member of Sambon Lodge No. 77 Knights of Pythias for 35 years and by request that lodge had charge of the interment.

The lodge attended in a body and preceded the body to the cemetery, while the pallbearers n charge consisted of Messrs. Ed. T. Alderman, C. A. Batman, J. A. Miller, A. J. Page, Geo. A. Klove and John Lundy.

At the cemetery the interment was under the ritualistic service of the order.

Dr. Swihart read the following very complete eulogy and obituary of the deceased:

vada have been so related that the community will not seem the same without him. That his personality has made a a large contribution to the day and age no one will gainsay.

"It was indeed a very reat shock to all when the news was passed from one to another that "Uncle John" was seriously sick last Thursday. And as the doctors gave but little hope and decided that an operation was the only chance, many anxious heart followed his to Des Moines. Mrs. McCutcheon and Mrs. Drybread sho were with him at the hospital had many queries to answer. Finally, when the repost came Sunday morning of his death there were not a few tears that glistened with sincere regrets as to the loss sustained in his going.

"He was born in Craigsville, Va., Jan. 19, 1860. He was one of 13 children born to Mr. George W. and Sophia Lockridge McCutcheon. But three of theses are now living. A brother, Dr. S. K. McCutcheon of Unionville, Mo., who with his wife and two daughters are present, another brother E. S. lives in Clifton Forge, Va., and the sister, Mrs. Ella Brennen in Sacramento, Cal. Another sister, Mrs. Price of Covington, Ca., died but two weeks ago.
