Rites set for Roscoe Phares

Roscoe Phares, 54, Cambridge, died about 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, where he had been a patient the past three weeks.

Born in Collins, he had been resident of Story and Marshall counties his entire life.

He was a farmer, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Cambridge American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Craig and three daughters, Barbara, Beverly and Lorraine, all at home; three brothers, Ivan of Collins, Lloyd of Marshalltown, and Marion Phares of Iowa City; and three sisters, Mrs. W. A. Norcross and Mrs. Orville Shepherd, both of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Ralph Simerson, Sumner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday from Evangelical United Brethren Church, with Rev. Bryan D. Service* officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Cemetery.
