Norma Helen Howell
April 7, 1926 to Dec. 20, 2000

Norma Helen Howell, 74, of Nevada, died on Wednesday, Dec. 20 of kidney failure at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, where she had been a resident for one day.

She was born April 7, 1926 in Nevada to Tollef and Gertrude (Lein) Dueland, she was a 1944 Nevada High School graduate and married Wayne Howell on March 12, 1949 in Nevada. Norma was a production clerk for Donnelley Marketing and retired in 1982. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Mary Church Circle, a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader and the Donnelley Retiree Club. Norma enjoyed knitting and babysitting her grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of Nevada.

Survivors include two sons, Eldon Howell of Ankeny and Dennis Howell of Ames; four grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Dueland of Des Moines.

Her parents; her husband Wayne on Jan. 26, 1995; two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 23 at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor Ellen Taube officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
