David L. Baker died Friday
David L. Baker, 57, Washington, D. C., died there Friday.
Born at Rockwell City, he grew up in Nevada, where as a young man, he was known for his interest in a variety of scientific activities. He owned a half-interest in a biplane which he flew about 1926 from an airport located a mile north of Nevada.
He attended Iowa State University, and for the past 25 years had been employed by the Federal Aeronautics Administration as chief of its flight test branch. During World War II, he trained military pilots.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jane Bishop of Nevada; and daughter, Mrs. John Kile, San Francisco, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. James H. Hilton, wife of the president of Iowa State University, Mrs. B. H. Hibbard of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. E. L. Lamberton and Helen Baker, both of Minneapolis, Minn. A brother, Guy, preceded him in death.
Burial is to be in Nevada Cemetery.
