Henry A. Hopper of Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hopper, Passed away at the Marshall County Hospital at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1954.
He was born at Humansville, Mo. February 28, 1882, and his age at passing was 72 years, 3 months and 19 days.
At the age of 21 years, he came to Iowa and made his home on a farm near Nevada, Iowa. His first wife, Ivy Allen Hopper, died at the birth of the twin sons, Harlan and Harold.
For a number of years Mr. Hopper had been engaged in business in Nevada. He was operator of the Nevada Ford shed at the time it burned and also had operated the Nevada Laundry and the Nevada Candy Kitchen, after which he returned to his first avocation, farming, which he ontinued until ill health prevented. Mr. Hoppe had been an invalid for the past twenty-nine years. He and Mrs. Hopper moved to Marshalltown about fifteen years ago.
Survivors are the wife, Hazel Apple Hopper, sons, Harlan of State Center and Harold of San Pedro, California; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several brothers, among whom are Edgar and Harry Hopper of Des Moines, George and Clyde of Minnesota and Billy Hopper of near Maxwell and host of friends.
He united with the Christian Church as a young man and lived in that faith throughout his lifetime.
