Faye was born July 11, 1933, in Dallas County near Grimes, IA to Harry Earl Peitzman and Mary Frances Bohrofen. She spent her early years in Grimes until her family moved to a farm south of Ames near Kelley. During High School she was active in singing and basketball. She graduated from Huxley High School in 1950 and went on to graduate from Waldorf College with a teaching certificate. While at Waldorf she sang with the Waldorf Choir, singing was always a big part of her life until the day she died. She taught elementary school for several years in Jewell, IA and Grimes, IA.On November 1, 1952, she married Kenneth W. Fjelland at Bethany Lutheran in Kelley, IA. Following Kenneth’s return from serving in the Korean War, they began farming in Grimes and on September 1, 1956 purchased a farm north of Radcliffe. It was on this farm they raised their three children, Bradley, Susan, and Kathy. They worked actively on Fjelland Farms together until 1979 when they built a home on the east side of Radcliffe and moved into town where she continued to support Fjelland Real Estate.
Faye was very active in the Radcliffe community and church. She served as Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School music leader, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Choir, Harmony Club, Ladies Aide, and Legion Auxiliary. Her joy of music was spread to many when she sang at numerous weddings and funerals.
In November 1994 Kenneth and Faye moved to Mesa, AZ where she continued to sing in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and St. Luke Lutheran Church Choirs and remained active in church activities. Her other great love was making beautiful quilts which her family are very honored to have as a treasured gift made by her loving hands. She and Kenneth also had a passion for motorcycling and took many trips across the country together. She also adored children and cherished her time with her grandchildren.
Faye is survived by her children: Bradley (Lorna) Fjelland of Radcliffe, IA; Susan Armstrong of Altoona, IA; and Kathy (Robert) Kolden of Mesa, AZ; and grandchildren: Michael (Mandy) Fjelland of Ames, IA; Taylor (Staci) Fjelland of Bondurant, IA; Kevin and Brian Kolden of Tempe, AZ; and step grandchildren Mindy (Robert) Coghlan of Roland, IA; Michael (Kim) Toftee of Webster City, IA; and David (Heather) Toftee of Williams, IA; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws Ruby Fjelland and Lois Ann Hovick both of Story City and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 47 years Kenneth, her sisters Dorothy Osborn and Bernice Ingram and a great-granddaughter Madison Toftee.
Faye will be remembered for her smile and loving nature by the many friends and family members she leaves behind.Memorials:

A celebration of life through music will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ on Saturday, April 12th. Burial and a graveside service will be on Sunday, April 27 at the Cemetery in Radcliffe, IA at 2:30 pm with a reception following at 3:00 pm in the Radcliffe Legion Hall.Cemetery:
