Florence Furman was born May 1, 1922 to Albert and Gladys (Clayberg) Matheason in Story City, Iowa. Florence graduated from Story City High School in 1941. She married Eugene Furman in Princeton, Missouri on November 29, 1942. Over the course of six years, Florence assisted with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, The Moose Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary.

As long as she was able, Florence enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren’s sporting activities. Some of her fondest memories were spent with Gene at their summer home at Wi-Wi-Ta Resort in Longville, Minnesota and having family members, relatives and friends come up and spend their summer vacations with them. Florence loved to watch college basketball and her favorite time of year was during March Madness. Florence was recently blessed and very proud to be part of a 5th generation with the birth of her great-great grandson, Chase. Florence loved her family dearly and her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Vekre (Furman), of Story City; her granddaughter, Connie Osmundson, of Story City; three great-grandsons, T.J. (Cassie) Stevens, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tanner Stevens and Colton Osmundson, both of Story City; two great-great-grandchildren, Sophia and Chase Stevens, of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Charles (Ruby) Matheason and Jerry (Bert) Matheason, all of Story City; a sister-in-law, Georgette Matheason, of Story City; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of special friends.
