Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Lawrence “Larry” Arne Sogard, 88, of Roland died April 7, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 30th, 11 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Inurnment will be after the service at 3 p.m. at the Oakland Cemetery, 1445 US 69, Forest City, IA.

Larry was born on December 20, 1925 in Independence, Iowa to Leonard and Judith Augusta (Kalstad) Sogard. He graduated from High School and went on to graduate from Luther College also taking post graduate classes. He was married and later divorced. Larry was the County Director of Butler County for the Iowa Department of Human Services. He retired to Roland, Iowa in 1988 and was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church. He was active in the Kiwanis, RSVP, Boy Scouts, Sons of Norway, Library Trustee, and on the Roland Library Foundation. He worked for Bill Boyd part time. He had a strong interest in the Civil War and was on the Civil War Round Table in Des Moines.

He is survived by his godson: Dana Lee of Minneapolis, MN.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother and one infant sister.

Memorials may be made out to charity of their choice or Luther College, Decorah, Iowa.
