Funeral Service for H. B. Mallory Held Saturday Afternoon

Funeral service for the late H. B. Mallory, 78, longtime resident of Story county, who had passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City Tuesday at 11 p. m. was held from the First Methodist church in Nevada, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with the Reverend O. E. Cooley officiating. A large number attended the last rites. Mrs. Norman Dobson was at the organ playing a number of appropriate hymns.

Teh many flowers which banked the front of the church tesitfied to the high esteem in which the deceased was held in this community.

The pall bearers were Wm. Farrington, Glen Armstrong, Harry Lough, Ralph Tipton, F. R. Kinsman and F. O. Bishop.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Cooley:

Henry Britton Mallory, son of John William and Mary Ellen Mallory was born in Sangamon county Illinois, March 1st, 1867.

When a small boy, with his parents he moved to Kansas, where he grew to manhood. He returned to Illinois where he lived until 1908, when he with his family, moved to Iowa, and settled on a farm northeast of Colo. Later moving to Grant township, where he resided until 1924 when he moved to Nevada where he lived until the time of his death. He was proceeded in death by his son John in 1915.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, one son Oliver S. of Ames, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three sisters, a number of other relatives and a large host of friends.

Among the relatives here from out of town in attendance at the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Mallory and family of Ames, Mrs. Nellie Hayes of Urbana, Ill., Mrs. Maude Whilmore of Albert Lea, Minn. and Mrs. Sadie Steele of Ottawa, Kansas.
