JOHN PECK

John Peck, 83, well known pioneer of McCallsburg, died at his home in McCallsburg at 10:20 a. m., July 29th, after a week's illness. he had been failing for some time, but had been confined to his ome only for a week.

The funeral was held Wednesday at the Presbyterian church in McCallsburg and interment was made in the Nevada cemetery.

Mr. Peck was born at Paulet, Vt., Oct. 2, 1852. He came to Iowa with his parents when a small child and was married to Miss Clara Heaton, Dec. 24, 1873 at Toledo, in Tama county.

They came to Story county the next year and settled on a farm near McCallsburg and this has since been the family home.

He is survived by his wife and six children, son son preceding him in death. The surviving children are C. E. Peck of Crookston, Minn., E. J. peck of Nevada, Millard Peck of Washington, D. C., Mrs. George Goss of Blairstown, Mrs. John Schauper of McCallsburg and Mrs. G. W. Mills of McCallsburg.
