Mary Catherine Stoops was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Ames, to Marilyn and Lyle Stoops. She attended school in Ames, graduating from Ames High School and later Iowa State University. After briefly being employed as an art teacher in Missouri, she began working at the Iowa State Library, where she remained throughout the rest of her working career.

Mary Catherine passed away on March 6 at the age of 59.

She is survived by one son, Eric Enslow; one sister-in-law, Kathi Stoops; two nieces, Allison Wise and Danielle Burnett, and their families; one nephew, Timothy Stoops; and her dear friend, Joan Mueller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn and Lyle Stoops, and her brother, Michael Stoops.
