Mike was known as “Grumpy” and was born May 22, 1942 in Alta, Iowa to Henry C. and Jane (Hetrick) Stille. Mike graduated from high school plus two years of college. He was an veteran of the US Army. He married Bertha Tarbill on April 16, 1962. He retired in 1981 from ACI as a superintendent. “Grumpy” lived in Roland, IA since 1974. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Roland American Legion Post #307, the Roland Fire Department and the Eagles club. Activities “Grumpy” enjoyed were sporting events, his grandchildren’s events and family.

Michael “Mike” Howard Stille passed away March 30, 2014 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa at the age of 71 years.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bert Stille of Roland; three daughters Kim Goodmanson (Ron) of Roland, Barb Becvar (Paul) of Fernald, and Carla Foster (Robbie) of Nevada and one son, Dennis Stille (Monica) of Radcliffe, IA; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; siblings Carolyn Babock of Hickman, NE, and many half brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Henry and Irene Stille, who raised Mike; two brothers Jon Stille and Charles Stille.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
