GEORGE EILERS

George Eilers, 93, of Nevada, died Tuesday, March 30, 1982 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he had bee a patient the past two weeks.

He was born October 9, 1888 near Hamburg, Germany, the son of Gerad and Margaretta Eilers. He attended military school in Germany and graduated from a merchant marine school as an officer.

Mr. Eilers emigrated to the United States in 1912. He worked as a machinist and came to Nevada after his marriage. On January 24, 1916 he married Thesa Octavia Swanson in Nevada.

The couple farmed in the Nevada community. Mr. Eilers was active in genetics and farm seed sales throughout Iowa for over 50 years.

He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Nevada, a 60-year Mason, member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge, and a member of the ZaGaZig Shrine.

Mr. Eilers is survived by two daughter, Margaretta Eilers of Nevada and Hazel Tuma of Nevada; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the Ryan Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Nevada Cemetery.
