Leota P. Collins
July 27, 1905 to Oct. 4, 1995

Leora P. Collins, 93, of Nevada, died Sunday, Oct. 4 of complications of Alzheimer's Disease at Story County Long Term Care where she had been a resident since March of 1989.

Collins was born July 27, 1905, in Eugene, Ore. to George and Carrie (Rorup) Peterson. She was a 1923 Nevada High School graduate and was a lifelong Story County resident. She married Harvey J. Collins on May 16, 1925, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Des Moines. She taught country school for two years and was a homemaker. Collins was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Mary's Circle and a charter member of O.D.O. Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (and Martha) Collins of Maxwell and Robert (and Janet) Collins of Colo; six grandchildren, Jim Collins, Jill Weber, Jeff Collins, Beth Klostermann, Jerry Collins and Patty Harms; nine great-grand children; and a sister, Agnes Perry of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 9, 1987; a son, Max, in 1953; and infant grandson; a sister; and a brother.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Memorial Lutheran Church with the Rev. Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial of the cremains followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.
