Guy C. Hoel
Dec. 4, 1905 to July 14, 1995Guy C. Hoel, 89, of Nevada died Friday, July 14, of heart failure at the Story County Long Term Care Facility in Nevada.
Mr. Hoel was born to John and Emma (Jackson) Hoel in Nevada on Dec. 4, 1905. He lived in Nevada for most of his life, except for 20 years that he spent in New Brighton, Minn., working for Twin Cities Arsenal. He supervised th ammunition department at his job there.
He married Mary Ellen Kutter in Colo. He was a member of the Nevada First United Methodist Church. He retired in 1962. During his lifetime, his hobbies included fishing, baseball and boxing.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay Phillips of Zearing; three sisters, Genn Hagen of Nevada, Gladys Shelton of Nevada and Mable Wade of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ellen in 1948; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. James King officiating. Burial was in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
