Wayne Olsan Killed in Action Over Truk Island

"The Secretary of War Desires to express his deep regret that your son, Staff Sergeant, Wayne M. Olsan, was killed in action on May 10, over Truk Island: Letter will follow."

Such was the message received today by Mrs. Milos Olsan of Seventh and I avenue, from the office of the Secretary of War, Washington, D. C.

Wayne had been in the service for over a year and was a tail gunner in the air service and had but recently received medals from the department for his action in the service.

His mother had received a letter from him only today, dated May 8, written but two days before he met his heroic death.

The mother lives at 830 Seventh street, while the father is now employed in Florida.

Wayne graduated from Nevada high school with the class of 1941.

Further particulars are not available at this time.
