Lavena Blanche Kuhns
June 5, 1915, to Nov. 13, 2003

Lavena Blanche Kuhns, 88, of Nevada died on Thursday, Nov. 13, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada.

She was born on June 5, 1915, in Moravia to Bert and Mabel (Bates) Cousins. She married Emory Kuhns on April 20, 1935, in Unionville, Mo. Lavena was a resident of Nevada for more than 50 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and writing.

Survivors include her two sons, Emory Junior "EJ" (and Margaret) Kuhns of Mesa, Ariz., and Phil (and Kathie) Kuhns of Nevada, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Clark of DeSoto, Betty Stark of Adel, Joyce Burkhead of Lorimar and Marilyn Dunn of Adel; and one brother, Don Cousins, of Grandby, Mo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in December of 1977 and several siblings. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 17, at Chet Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada handled arrangments.
