Services Held May For Albert Gibbs

The funeral of Albert M. Gibbs was held Thursday, May 10 at the Ryan Funeral home with Rev. Hugh C. Guy in charge. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "No Night There" were played as organ selections by recording.

The pall bearers were Jay Ferguson, Keith Ferguson, Leon Ferguson, Bill Demming, Lloyd Myers and Sylvester Newkirk.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Among the relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Asdalen of River Falls, Wis., Pvt. Rollie Gibbs of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Harris of Garden Grove, Mrs. Willis Palmer of Humeston, Mr. and Mrs. Chance Mitchell and daughter, Mrs. John Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Pryor of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Joe McVay, Mr. and Mrs. Claude McVay and daughter of Cedar Falls, also many friends from Ames.

Obituary

The following obituary of the deceased was read by Rev. Guy:

"Albert M. Gibbs was born at Humeston, Ia., December 30, 1909 and passed away at his home in Nevada, Ia., on Sunday evening, May 7, 1951, at about 10 p. m., being 41 years, 4 months and seven days old.

Albert came to Nevada with his parents about 35 years ago. He attended the Nevada public school and went some time to the Christian Church Sunday school, this being the church of his choice.

He was married to Genevieve Campbell in Nevada on June 1, 1929.

Mr. Gibbs was employed at the Nevada Brick and Tile company of Nevada.

Albert leaves to miss him his wife and four children, Miss Patricia, Robert, who is in the U. S. Army and stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., and Catherine and Richard also of Nevada. Besides these of the immediate family, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Gibbs of Nevada; two sisters, Mrs. Lois Chivelle, of Nevada and Mrs. Harriett Aadalen of River Falls, Wis., and two brothers, George and Gerald Gibbs of Nevada.

He also leaves many other more distant relatives and friends.
