Last Rites for George T. Fry Held Sunday P.M.

Funeral services for the late George Fry, 90, a resident of county his entire lifetime was held
Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.

The funeral home was filled with relatives and friend assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to one who had lived his entire life to this community. The large number present was testimony to the respect in which the deceased was held by those who had known him for many years.

Mrs. Norman C. Dobson was at the organ, playing a number of hymns including "Abide With Me," "Rock of Ages" and "Have Thine Own Way."

The pall bearers were Sam Ayers, Ray Taylor, Leo Baker, Howard Schultz, R. B. Ayers and George Taylor.

The following obituary was read by Rev. Lookingbill who had paid a fine tribute to the life of the deceased and brought spiritual comfort through the reading of God's Word.

Obituary.

George T. Fay, son of James and Elizabeth Fry, was nor near Nevada in the Hickory Grove neighborhood, April 5, 1857, growing to manhood in that community.

He was married Oct. 17, 1885 to Matilda Morris. They established their home on a farm near Nevada until retiring and moving into town where they had their home until the death of Mrs. Fry about two years ago.

After the death of the wife and mother, Mr. Fry made his home with his two daughters, Mrs. Frank Kuhn and Mrs. Mildred Tyler received from them every care and kindness.

He departed this life at the University hospital in Iowa City, Nov. 14, 1947 at the age of 90 years, seven months and nine days.

Mr. Fry is survived by the two daughters, a sister, Mrs. M. J. Lough of this city, a half sister, Mrs. Emma Wantz of State Center, seven grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Three brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
